Descrición

This piece is an Italian reliquary from the early 17th century composed of a large sterling silver frame and a central body of great pictorial sense and clear classicist inspiration, in which appears a combination of various marbles, agates, and other stones of original and varied colours.

The scene is dominated by the image of a large ciborium formed from the combination of yellow, grey, and bluish tones, which encloses a central reliquary chamber with the relics of Saint Anne. They are decorated with various beads and illustrated with a cartouche bearing the inscription: «S. ANNA MARIAE MATER».

As for the silver frame, it presents an elaborate decoration of classical inspiration, in which two cherubs marking the vertical axis of the piece stand out, along with volutes arranged parallel to the handles of the ciborium and finished in both cases by two female faces, two curtain-like elements on the lower sides, and vegetal decoration at the extremities of the piece.
